Stay in your Jammies
Science experiments
Stay busy today with your little scientists. Make crystal ice ornaments, super soapy play dough or try an erupting volcano experiment. Here are some other ideas
Games Day
Stay in your jamies all day and just play. There are so many skills involved with the different styles of games you can play – trivia, operation, cards, checkers, candyland.
Deck the Halls
Take advantage of the kids’ extra help to get the decorations up. Make some new ornaments with play clay or create some keepsakes of cute little hands and feet. Instructions and ideas here.
Freeze dance or Twister
Both of these games get the kids moving . Add Christmas music and you have a festive dance party.
Story Time
Today is a great day to snuggle up with a good book. Make it a dig out your Christmas selections to share with the kids. Parenting magazine has a great list of their top 20 Christmas books for kids.
MITK tip Take time today to go through and donate books you no longer read!
Dress up/ Puppet Show
Kids of all ages will be entertained for hours creating a great drama or puppet show. Try acting out a Christmas favourite, make a set, develop characters and design some fun costumes.
Art Class Christmas Cards
Set up a table full of art supplies and let you kids imaginations run wild making Christmas cards. Bring out Christmas cookie cutters to trace, give them red and green paper and sparkles, set out some jingles bells and photos to get them started. Martha Stewart has some nice ideas.
